Marcia G. Abbott-Ochsner Nov 27, 1930 – Oct 23, 2016 Preceded in death by parents, Gwen and Henry George; husbands, George Abbott and James D. Ochsner; sister, Jayne Herrin. Survived by children: Russell Abbott (Jackie), Mark Abbott (Susan), and Cindy Sellon (Bruce); grandchildren: Christopher Abbott, Amanda Abbott, Daniel Sellon (Melissa), and Kathleen Sellon. Marcia attended Brady High School in Brady, Nebraska, earning a diploma in just 3 ½ years. She graduated from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a Bachelors Degree in Science and a Bachelors Degree in Education, then went on to earn a Masters Degree in School Administration as well as a Masters Degree in counseling at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She taught at Rosehill School in Omaha and was an instructor in the Education Department at UNO. She was a School Counselor at Norris Middle School, Assistant Principal at Omaha Bryan High, and Assistant Principal at Omaha North High, where she was honored as a Viking of Distinction in 2002. Marcia served as State President of Nebraska State Retired School Employees; AARP National Liaison for the State of Nebraska; President of Omaha Retired School Employees; President of Omaha Council of PTA; President of PEO; Vice President of American Association of University Women; and National President of Phi Delta Gamma. While a resident at Elmwood Tower in Omaha, Marcia served on the Board of Directors from 2007 to 2010 and chaired several committees. Marcia held membership at Mount View Presbyterian Church in Omaha, where she served in the capacity of Elder. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 27th from 5pm to 7pm at the Bel Air Chapel. SERVICES Friday, October 28th, 1:30pm, Bel Air Chapel. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice.
