André Jamar Rush

Apr 11, 1988 – Jul 10, 2017

André Jamar “Protégé” Rush was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 11, 1988, and entered into eternal rest on July 10, 2017.  Diagnosed at birth with Sickle Cell Anemia, “AJ” or “J” or “Dre,” as he was known by his loved ones, overcame many obstacles in his young life.  At a very young age, he found that he had a talent and passion for music.  Throughout his health struggles he made sure to keep music first in his life even though he was hospitalized most of the time.  André utilized his strife to provide strength in his time of “crisis.”  Holding true to the characteristics of his survivor mentality, he transformed his pain into catchy hooks and passionate lyrics.

André is survived by his mother, Linda Floyd, and father, George Collins; grandmothers, Mary A. Blan and Lucille Collins; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

WAKE will be held on Tuesday, July 18th from 6pm to 8pm at the Bel Air Chapel, 12100 W. Center Rd.  FUNERAL SERVICES will be held on Wednesday, July 19th at 11am at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, 1809 N 23rd St.  Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery.  Memorials will be directed by the family.
