Ann K. Goldstein

GOLDSTEIN, Ann K., Oct 8, 1946 – Mar 12, 2011. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be remembered for her never-ending optimism, compassion, love for her community, and, of course, her smile. She was passionate in her dedication to Jewish life and learning, to Omaha, and the community at-large. Initially an elementary school teacher, Ann went on to be a civic leader in organizations including the Omaha Children’s Museum, Junior League of Omaha, Public Arts Commission of Omaha, Beth El Synagogue, Center for Jewish Education, Anti-Defamation League, and more. At the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, she directed initiatives including Leadership Omaha, Youth Leadership Omaha, the Omaha Executive Institute, and Neighborhood Builders, helping to shape the next generation of civic leaders. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard Kennedy III and Jane W. Kennedy; brother, David Kennedy. She is survived by her husband, Donald Goldstein; daughters: Deborah Baum (Matthew) of Providence, RI, Rebecca Groothuis (Derek) of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: David and Zoe Groothuis, Beatrice and Max Baum; sister, Jane Kennedy of Denver, CO; brother, Howard Kennedy IV (Karen); father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Shirley Goldstein all of Omaha; nieces and nephews and many close friends. MEMORIAL SERVICE Tuesday, 11am at Beth El Synagogue, 14506 California St. Private Interment, Beth El Cemetery.
