Betty M. Strum-Christo

Betty Strum Christo, age 86, of Logan, Iowa passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at the Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa. Betty was born February 22, 1926 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Maurice Smith and Pearl (Coyle) Smith. Betty’s greatest fondness was for her family. Many a holiday was spent around her kitchen table playing Bingo after feasting on her fabulous meals. She enjoyed collecting various things – from Betty Boops items to Kewpie Dolls and Native American Artwork. She had a great fondness for reading, Country Music and dancing. Betty is preceded to Heaven by parents Maurice and Pearl, husbands Leonard Strum and Don Christo, children Linda Frain and Raymond Strum, siblings Raymond Smith, Ella May Points, Jim Smith, Tom Williamson, Roselie Williamson, and granddaughter Teri McHugh. Betty is survived by her sister, Nancy (Glen) Earleywine of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and brother Ben Smith of Malvern, Iowa. She also leaves behind sons Lonnie Strum of Logan, Iowa, and Bob (Sherry) Strum of Omaha, Nebraska, as well as seventeen Grandchildren, fifty-three Great Grandchildren, and eighteen Great-Great Grandchildren. Betty will be sorely missed not only by her family, but by her “Westmont family”. She spoke glowingly of the kindness, compassion and love shown to her by all who cared for her during her final years. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, May 3 with visitation to follow until 8pm at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.
