Chad Charles Hammitt

Chad Charles Hammitt age, 43, of Logan, Iowa passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Chad was born October 31, 1971 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Steve R. Hammitt and Cathy L. (Fouts) Hammitt. Being born on Halloween his mother called him her little spook. Chad lived in Logan in the same house all of his life. He graduated from the Logan-Magnolia High School in 1991. Chad lost his mom from Melanoma in June of 1991. After graduating high school Chad joined the U.S. Navy, he served for two years. Upon returning home he fell in love with his good friend Trisha Butterfield, they married in November 5, 1994. Trisha’s family could not be happier they loved him like a son and brother. On April 19, 1995 Cyndi Rae was born and very shortly after Joee Rena was born. Chad worked Bridge Construction all his life, he was a very hard worker. Chad enjoyed cookouts at his in laws home Bud and Cindy with the whole family. Obviously he loved football especially the Bears. He would get all excited during football season, he and Donny and friends would get together and make chili or whatever. He also enjoyed deer hunting with Bud and Donny and the hunting crew, one time while hunting they shot a deer, Bud said Chad you track the deer and I’ll get the truck, so Chad walked for miles tracking the deer. Bud lost him, so Trish and Cindy got in the car to look for him, it was getting late, and they finally found him up on a ridge with the deer. Chad was a very devoted and dedicated father and husband. They had a very good 21 years together. Chad’s last jobs were Godberson Smith Construction and last year was Midwest Mechanical for as long as he could and was just to sick to continue. In the hospital before Chad passed his brother Kyle wife Diane, Trish, Cyd and Joee, Bud and Cindy, Donny, Traci and nieces and nephews were all with him, he looked up at them and said I couldn’t have asked for a better family. We all said how much we loved him and said goodbye, we lost him at 9:25 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2015. Chad is preceded in death by: parents: Stephen and Cathy Hammitt. Survivors include his wife Trisha Hammitt; daughters: Joee Hammitt, Cydni Hammitt; nieces and nephews: Breanne, Brett, Cassi, Alex, Thomas, Maddi; great niece: Naomi; mother and father in law: Bud and Cindy Wright; sister: Traci DeSantiago; brothers: Kyle Hammitt (Diane), Donald Wright, Troy Butterfield; grandmother: Bernice Hammitt; many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa. Everyone is invited to a time of lunch and fellowship at Bud and Cindy Wrights place.
