David S. Carson, Sr.

CARSON—David S., Sr., age 84 years, Omaha. David was born in Cedar Rapids, IA to Hiram and Marguerite Carson. David attended grade school and high school in Cedar Rapids and Omaha. David graduated from Oberlin College in 1943 with a degree in Political Science. After graduation, David enlisted in the Navy and rose to the rank of Lt. Cmdr. David participated in the D-Day invasion in the South of France in 1944 as Flotilla Commander, LCT Flotilla 41. After the war, David returned to Omaha. David worked in the meat packing industry for 6 years before going to work for Northern Natural Gas in 1952. David worked his way up through the ranks ultimately becoming the Director of Community Development. David was active in community affairs both in his professional and personal life. David was the first Executive Director of the Nebraska Inter-Tribal Development Corporation, President of the Eastern Nebraska Mental Health Association and Vice President of Omaha Landmarks, Inc. to name a few. David was preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved sister, Tancy. He is survived by his sisters, Gweneth Becker and Suzanne Jessen; his sons, David, Jr., and Douglas; his daughter, Katherine; and his grandchildren, Caitlin, Daniel, Meghan, Claire, and Christopher.
