Debra (Heinson) Thiesfeld

THIESFELD, Debra A. (Heinson) Apr 2, 1956 – Apr 1, 2014 Debra Heinson Thiesfeld of Omaha, Nebraska passed away on Monday, April 1st, one day short of her 58th birthday. She was born in Omaha on April 2, 1956 to Ann and Conrad Heinson. After graduating from Westside High School in 1974, and UN-L in 1978, Debra married her high school sweetheart, Steven Thiesfeld of Omaha, on July 6, 1979. They would have celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary this summer. Debra graduated Cum Laude from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1978 with a degree in criminal justice. She then attended Roosevelt University in Chicago, earning a post-graduate degree as a paralegal. Debra returned to Omaha and was immediately hired at the law firm of Fitzgerald Brown, where she worked as a paralegal for future District Court Justice Lyle Strom. She was ultimately called to join the family business, Allied Oil and Tire Company, where she devoted 30 years. Debra was extremely proud of the company her father founded and served as Executive Vice President and on the board of directors until her passing. Debra loved traveling, shopping, musical theatre, mysteries, and spending time with her family. Her enjoyment of all things related to Siamese cats was unparalleled. She enjoyed vacationing at the family retreat at Lake of the Ozarks and visiting her 7 week-old granddaughter, Victoria. Debra was survived by her husband, Steven L. Thiesfeld; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Daniel Vail of Overland Park, Kansas; son, Steven C. Thiesfeld of Omaha; granddaughter, Victoria Vail of Overland Park, Kansas; parents, Ann and Conrad Heinson of Omaha; sister and brother-in-law, Tamara and Doak Fowler of Omaha; nephew, Kyle Fowler of Omaha; and niece, Jayme Fowler of Omaha. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 6th, from 4pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel. A funeral service will be held Monday, April 7th at 10am at West Hills Presbyterian Church. Interment to follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Debra’s name to the Nebraska Children’s Home Society or JDRF (the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
