Diane C. Schincke

SCHINCKE, Diane C. “Babe,” Apr 2, 1947 – May 31, 2012. “Never a harsh word, always a friend to those in need.” Raised on a farm in the community of Mapleton, Iowa, Diane attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and Maple Valley High School. She graduated from Tyler Beauty School in Sioux City, Iowa, and worked as a cosmetologist for twenty-seven years, the last ten in her own Lady Di’s Salon. Diane and Micheal were married in 1966 and celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in January of this year. In 1969 they moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Diane created a loving home for Micheal, their son Scott, and their grandchildren Kayla, Nick and Melodie. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church for thirty-one years. Diane was a very happy and caring person to everyone, always with a beautiful smile. Besides being an accomplished artist, musician and avid reader (one or more books a week), her activities included: sewing, quilting, upholstery, decorating, knitting, tennis (several trophies), golf, swimming, fishing, camping, hiking, snow skiing, crossword puzzles, and traveling. Diane enjoyed life and everything it offered. She is survived by husband, Micheal Schincke; son, Scott Schincke; grandchildren: Kayla Fitzgerald, Nick Schincke, and Melodie Schincke; brother, Robert Rauterkus; sisters, Carole Kafton and Joan Heidzig; brothers-in-law, Arvin Kafton and Don Heidzig; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by father, Gilbert Rauterkus; mother, Helen Rauterkus; uncles, LaVerne Rauterkus and Marvin Steinbach. Private interment, Calvary Cemetery, 7710 W. Center Rd., Omaha. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Visiting Nurse Association (VNA).
