Donald M. Miloni

MILONI-Donald M., age 84. Born 7/29/1923 in Omaha to Angelo and Marie Miloni. His parents grew up in the part of South Omaha known as “Little Italy”. The Miloni Family was quite large with 4 boys and one girl growing up in a small house on 6th and Hickory. Donald attended Train School which was located across the street from where he grew up. Due to the hardship of those days, he was unable to finish elementry school. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on 4/24/1944 and served 2 years and 1 month aboard the destroyer USS Laurens. He was honorable discharged in May of 1946 in San Pedro, CA. He married during WW II to Evelyn Marie Tully and had 4 sons, Jerry, Donnie, Tony John and Steve. He worked for Edison Bros. Shoes for many years in Omaha as a Merchandise Sales Manager. He also worked in the same capacity at the Brandeis Dept. Store. and later for the Phillips Dept. Store in South Omaha until he retired. Donald will be remembered as a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He never let his limited education deter him forom his goals. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; parents, Angelo and Marie; sons, Jerry, who died 5/7/2008 and Steve; brothers, Tony, Sam, Paul and Joe. Survived by sons and daughter-in-laws, Donnie and Beth Miloni, Marietta, GA, Tony John and Lori, North Little Rock, AR; grandsons, Michael Miloni, Omaha, Zachary Miloni and Cassidy Miloni, both Marietta, GA; sister, Tina Sacoman, Omaha; other cousins, nieces and nephews. Private family services will be held. Interment Calvary Cemetery with full military honors. Memorials to Girls and Boys Town.
