Donald O. Bunkers

Bunkers, Donald O., Sep 17, 1922 – Feb 9, 2011. Age 88 years. Born September 17, 1922 to Aloysius and Signe (Olsen) Bunkers in Colman, South Dakota. Graduated from Colman High School in 1940 and enlisted in the Army, spending 4 years in the Pacific Theater during WWII. Graduated from South Dakota State University in 1949 with a degree in Agricultural Economics. Married Margery Egge in November of 1950. Worked in agricultural lending for over 33 years primarily with the Farm Credit System and the Federal Land Bank, retiring in 1983. He also served 20 years in the military with his combined active duty service during WWII, the Korean War, and time in the Reserves. He loved to play golf, bowl, watching baseball and Nebraska football, and trips to Australia after his retirement. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc until 2009 when he moved to Colorado. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Jeffrey and Lynda Bunkers of Perrysburg, Ohio, David and Colleen Bunkers of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brothers, Dr. Raymond Bunkers of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and John Bunkers of Wausau, Wisconsin; four grandchildren: Katherine Bunkers of Cleveland, Ohio, Gabrielle Crowley of Perrysburg, Ohio, Meghan and Lilliana Bunkers of Colorado Springs, Colorado; many nieces and nephews. VISITATION begins Sunday, 2pm, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 4pm at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Monday, 10am, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
