Dorothy Hayes Sater

SATER, Dorothy “Dottie” Hayes, Mar 12, 1931 – Mar 14, 2012. Dottie was a pioneer in Omaha’s early television days at WOW-TV and was a founder and first woman president of the Omaha Press Club. Her public relations career began at Omaha University and concluded after 15 years with Immanuel Medical Center. She has been inducted into the Omaha Press Club Hall of Fame and been awarded Lifetime Achievement recognition from the Press Club and University of Nebraska-Omaha School of Communications. Dottie was preceded in death by husbands, Stan Davidson (1963) and Donald Sater (2003); mother, Thurma Hayes. She was the beloved mother of David and Karen Sater, Laura and Dale Seyl, Debra and David Houghton, Gary and Lora Sater, and Jan and Phil Cook. She was the proud grandmother of Ella, Cole, Ethan, Drew, Suzy, Amy, Jason, Jon, Sean, and Brent; and great-grandma to Luke, Isabelle, Trevor, Cameron, Nick, and Isaac. The family will receive friends Sunday, 4pm to 7pm at Northwest Hills Church, 9334 Fort St. Private Interment, Hillcrest Memorial Park. CELEBRATION OF LIFE Monday, 11am, Northwest Hills Church with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Omaha Press Club for a scholarship in Dottie’s name, or to your choice of charities.
