Guttau, age 90, of Mondamin, Iowa passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Dorothy was born February 12, 1924 in Greenwood, Nebraska to Goodhart and Frances E. (Smith) Vant. Dorothy graduated from Greenwood, Nebraska High School. She worked as a telephone operator in Wahoo, Nebraska until she met Arthur Guttau at a friend’s wedding. They were married in Oxnard, California April 28, 1945. Dorothy is preceded in death by: parents, husband Arthur H. Guttau, brother John Francis Vant. Survivors include her children: Janice M. and husband Al Vandarwarka, of No. Sioux City, Larry Guttau of Mondamin, Iowa, grandchildren James Guttau, Gwen Weigelt, Michael and wife Amanda Guttau, Timothy and wife Peggy Waldner, Jill and husband Jim Sharp, Alan Vandarwarka, Chad and wife Stephanie Vandarwarka, great grandchildren Braydan Waldner, Rhayna Waldner, Tristen Sharp, Nathan Vandarwarka, Henry Vandarwarka, Maddox Weigelt, Ayla Guttau, Jemma Guttau, Hayden Guttau, and sister-in-law Madonna Vant. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church is Pisgah, Iowa following the committal service. Memorials may be directed to the Mondamin Fire and Rescue Department.
