Dr. Leo E. O’Brien

O’BRIEN, Dr. Leo E., age 71 years, passed away June 11, 2007, at Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was born December 2, 1935 in Omaha NE. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War; shortly after being discharged, he entered Creighton University. He finished his medical training at the University of Nebraska Medical School in 1965 and served at the Medical Center as an Associate Professor for several years before entering into private practice in Omaha. He was a respected member of the medical community until his retirement in 2003. Leo was a man of many interests and traveled extensively with his wife Nancy. He will be greatly missed and his memory will be cherished. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Nancy L. O’Brien; five children: son Kevin O’Brien and daughter-in-law Pam of Baltimore MD, daughter Phyllis Windom and son-in-law Rusty Windom of Leavenworth, KS, son Jerry O’Brien of Omaha, son Tim O’Brien and daughter-in-law Annette of Glenwood, IA, daughter Trisha Craig and son-in-law Bruce Craig of Johnson, NE; 7 grandchildren: David O’Brien, Joe O’Brien, Claire O’Brien, Lauren Windom, Robert Windom, Nathan Craig and Alex Craig. He leaves behind his beloved pets Annie Mae, Bugs and Spike and many wonderful friends and caregivers. He was preceded in death by his parents; Leo and Argie (Walker) O’Brien. Vigil Service: Sunday, 7:00 p.m., West Center Chapel. Memorial Mass Monday, 10:00 a.m., St. Patrick Catholic Church, 20500 W. Maple Road, Elkhorn. Private inurnment, Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials to Catholic Charities Addiction Programs, Nebraska Humane Society, or Josie Harper Hospice House. The family will receive friends Sunday, 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the West Center Chapel.
