SWANSON, Edna Lea (Ford) Jan 19, 1921 — Apr 15, 2013 Edna Lea (Ford) Swanson, 92, of Omaha, Nebraska, went to be with her Lord Monday, April 15, 2013. She is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Frank E. Swanson, who died in 1996; sister, Dorothy Silas; and nephew, Gary Rose. She leaves sons, Frank L. Swanson and Dennis B. Swanson of Omaha, and daughter, Barbara Cerny and her husband Richard of Massachusetts; niece, Donna Crawley of Omaha; two grandsons, Gregory Cerny and Jeffrey Cerny, both of Massachusetts; seven great-grandchildren; 3 other nieces; 4 great-nieces; and many friends. Edna was born in Kansas City, MO, and has lived in Omaha most of her life. She was Manager at Tip Top Thrift Shop, where she worked for 34 years, and was a charter member of Omaha’s West Hills Presbyterian Church, which she attended for over 50 years. She was subsequently a volunteer at Omaha’s Veterans Hospital, where her husband passed. Edna was co-owner, with son Dennis, of Swanson Lawn and Snow, Inc. of Omaha, and she remained active as the firm’s administrative manager until her recent hospitalization. With husband Frank, she was a 50 year member of both the Order of the Eastern Star and the Social Order of the Beauceant in Omaha. She dearly loved and was loved by her family in Nebraska and in Massachusetts where she enjoyed her annual vacations on Cape Cod. The family will receive friends Thursday, April 18 from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Friday, April 19 at 10am at West Hills Church, 3015 S. 82 Ave. Interment, Westlawn.
