Frank Homer Grosvenor

Frank Homer Grosvenor was born on January 19, 1929, the fourth child of Homer Douglas Grosvenor and Marie Margaret (Smith) Grosvenor in rural Logan, Iowa. He graduated from Logan High School in 1947. On January 23, 1949, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Louise Dickinson at the Logan Methodist Church. To this union were born two sons: Dwight Franklin and James Robert (Jim). Frank and Dorothy farmed from 1950 to 1977. For two years they farmed the McKay place, east of Harris Grove and then in 1952 they moved to the Jess Kemmish farm. They farmed there until they bought their own farm in 1960 three miles north of Logan, where the old Johnny Graves farm became the Fran-Do farm. Together they built up a herd of registered Guernsey’s milking about 25 head twice a day. It was on this farm that their sons grew up and their five grandchildren began to know Grandma and Grandpa! Besides being a farmer, Frank was active in the Logan Methodist Church. He served as usher as well as on the Official Board of the church. He also served on the Extension Board and worked at FS the year that Dwight came back to the farm. In 1977, Frank and Dorothy began to go south for the winters, first to Texas, then to Mesa, AZ. They enjoyed their winters together in Mesa, until Dorothy died of cancer in August, 1986. Frank married Beulah Yvonne (Plunet) Winkler in May 1987, in Hartley, Iowa. They made their home in Mesa, AZ for the winter months and during the spring and summer, they resided in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. Frank enjoyed many hobbies during his retirement including playing pool for the Orangewood Shadows team. He enjoyed woodworking, carving and burning pictures on wood. Many of his creations he gave away to family and friends. In Canada he enjoyed ocean fishing for salmon and halibut, as well as tending to his strawberries, tomatoes, and many beautiful flowers around their home!
