Franklin E. Harding

HARDING, Franklin E. Jan 4, 1940 – Mar 20, 2014 Franklin Eugene Harding was born in Central City, Nebraska, on January 4, 1940. Frank’s dad, Jacob, worked for the Union Pacific Railroad, so the family moved around. Frank attended Polk High School, graduating in 1958. Frank worked for a time in California at Woody’s Schmorgasburger before joining Union Pacific in 1963, where he was employed for more than forty years before retiring in 2000. In 1966 Frank married Charlene Schoenholz of Bruning, Nebraska. Two girls and two boys were born to them over the next ten years. Frank lived at various times in Lincoln, Beatrice, Overton, North Platte, and Omaha. A member of the Freemasonry, he loved restoring his ’64 Chevy and gardening. Frank was also an avid fisherman and a Husker fan for all of his life. At the center of Frank’s life were his family and friends, including his best friends—his dogs, Husker and Major. Most of all, he enjoyed having his family over for dinner, drinks, and many great laughs. Frank was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary and Jacob Harding; sisters, Wanda Schoenholz and Donna Harding. He is survived by his wife, Charlene R. Harding of Omaha; children: Christine Miller (Tom) of Omaha, Caroline Holtz (Aaron) of North Platte, Jake Harding (Melissa) of Omaha, Jesse Harding (Elizabeth) of Omaha; sister, Virginia Petersen (Bob) of Seward; seven grandchildren: Hannah, Connor, Caden, Samuel, Lucy, Grace, and Jett; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Sunday, March 23rd from 2pm to 4pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Monday, March 24th at 2pm, West Center Chapel. Interment Tuesday, March 25th at 2pm, at Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens in North Platte, Nebraska. Memorials will be directed by the family.
