Gary Trimble, age 62, was preceded in death by his parents, Sally and Walt Trimble; nephew, Joseph Rigatuso; aunt and uncle, Connie and Gene Trimble; cousin, Mark Trimble; father-in-law, Mike Malone; and life-long-friends, Michael Kimball and John Farrow.  He is survived by his wife, Joan Trimble; children: Jennifer Van Haitsma (Matt), Katie Trimble, and Matthew Trimble; grandchildren: Cameron, Autumn, Layne, Clara and Grant; brother, Sonny Trimble; cousin, Shanin Trimble; mother-in-law, Kay Malone.

Gary’s early life was shaped by his love for horses and music.  He spent his childhood with the Omaha Saddle Club, participating in horse competitions.  Gary loved performing in musicals in high school, including “Oklahoma” and singing with his band.  In fact, he met the love of his life and wife of 39 years, Joan, when he was singing at “Bert & Ernie’s” in 1977.    Gary never missed an opportunity to jump on the stage and delight the crowd with his deep bass voice; his favorite choices included “Ring of Fire,” “On La Grange,” or “Chantilly Lace.”

Gary was so many things to so many people.  He was a man who loved his family and friends fiercely and would do anything he could to help.  He was a firm believer in tough love, but his children and grandchildren always knew they could count on him, even if they got an earful first.  The worst thing for his kids to hear was that they’d disappointed him.  He’d give you his last dollar, even if he needed it. Gary also never met a stranger.  He made friends quickly, everywhere he went, and once you were a friend, you were a friend for life.  He considered his life-long friends his brothers.

Gary was a hard-working man, honest to a fault, and a jack of all trades.  He could fix just about anything. Although he wasn’t much of a drinker, Gary was always the life of the party, ready to make everyone laugh.  He always kept the mood light with his sense of humor, and he had a “dad expression” for just about every situation.  Gary could also be counted on to keep everyone on their toes by saying something inappropriate at just the right time.

Though he left this earth too soon, Gary’s big heart and sense of humor will always remain with those who knew and loved him.

My heart aches for the loss of an honorary father in my life. Gary was the absolute best of the best. I will miss him dearly.
