George I. Sears

George Isaac Sears, age 88, of Logan, Iowa passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The Sunday prior to his death, an 88th birthday celebration was held with family. George was born April 23, 1928 to Orville and Maude (Davis) Sears in their country farm home outside of Logan, Iowa. George graduated from Logan High School. On June 18, 1950, he married Beverly J Thomsen in Logan, Iowa. They were married for 65 years, up to the time of Beverly’s passing on July 28, 2015. During George’s teenage years he operated a hauling business using a wagon drawn by his two work horses in Logan, Iowa. After serving as an Army Corporal in the Korean War, he returned to Logan and completed heating and air conditioning school. He owned and operated Sears Electric & Heating in Logan for many years. Later on in his life he purchased a farm outside of Logan. George and Beverly raised cattle, hogs and crops. George and Beverly, along with close friends, belonged to a dance club. Together they listened to hours of country music and shared trips to Branson, Missouri to enjoy country music artists. George become a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge and served on the Logan City Council. He was one of a group of men that started the Logan Rescue Unit. George loved his family and provided warmth and unconditional love, as a husband, father, grandfather and great grandpa. His gift of conversation was shared with many. George is preceded in death by his parents, wife: Beverly and sisters: Donna, Margaret, Camilla, brothers: Merle, Albert, Bill and brother in law: Keith. Survivors include his children: Robin Stake of Lake Stevens, Washington, Pat Sears and wife Carol of Logan, Iowa, grandchildren Ryan Sears and wife Lindsay, Cody Sears and wife Milissa, Shawn Stake and Justin Stake, great granddaughters: Madison Sears and Allyson Sears, nieces and nephews, sisters in law: Lou Sears and Joanne Thomsen. Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship to the church after the committal service at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Logan Fire and Rescue Department. In Loving Memory of George I.
