Harold J. Conroy

CONROY-Harold J. “Hal,” age 84 years, Omaha. passed into the presence of the Lord Thurs., 4/24/08. Born 5/17/1923 in Los Angeles, CA, the fifth of nine children. “Tuffy” came to Grand Island, NE in July 1944 for training in the Army Air Corps and there met and married Roma Gosda on November 15, 1944. He shipped out and served as a B-29 engineer and crew chief in the South Pacific on Tinian, operational base of the Enola Gay. Returning from the war, he began a family and worked as an electrician wiring farms. Harold moved his family to Omaha in 1955, and in 1975 started Amps Rite Electrical, which he owned and operated until 4/4/08. Harold is preceded in death by his daughter, Ann Marie Conroy. He is survived by his wife, Roma; 7 sons, Dr. James (Susan), Gerald (LaDonna), Philip (Cathy), Martin (Marsha), Paul (Debbee), Quyen (Anna), and Joseph (Deb); 2 daughters, Ruth Hunsaker (Rod) and Tamara Conroy (Daniel); 28 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Frank, Las Vegas, NV, and Don Lee; sisters, Rita Shade, both of Los Angeles, CA, Patricia Connaghan, Long Beach, CA. Services Monday, 10:00 a.m., Luther Memorial Lutheran Church. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Luther Memorial Lutheran Church or Mother Theresa Missionaries of Charity. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. Sunday, with family receiving friends 3:00-5:00 p.m. at the West Center Chapel. COMPLETE NOTICE LATER.
