J. William “Bill” Henry Jul 3, 1942 – Mar 8, 2016 Bill Henry was born on July 3, 1942 in Evanston, Wyoming, and passed away March 8, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eloise and Mace Henry. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Karilyn Kober; daughter, Suzi Henry and son in law, Mark Collier; daughter, Sara Sottrel; daughter, Amy Kielian and son in law, Chris Kielian; and daughter, Jensen Henry; his grandchildren, Henry and Jane Sottrel and Mason Collier; and his wonderful friends and colleagues. Bill graduated from Benson High School in 1960 and the University of Nebraska in 1964. He was an All American record holder and a Big Eight Champion in swimming. Bill joined First National Bank of Omaha in 1964. During his career at First National, he served in all parts of the Bank and represented the organization in numerous industry committees and groups. He was extensively involved in the growth of the credit card business and with Visa USA. He was instrumental in several major government relations activities of the organization and in all of First National’s infrastructure investments, including First National Business Park, Technology Center, and First National Tower. He was appointed Director of First National Bank of Omaha in 1973 and then Executive Vice President of First National of Nebraska in 1983. He served as Executive Director of First National of Nebraska until 2000 and as its President from 2000 to 2002. In 2002 Bill retired from First National Bank of Omaha and First National of Nebraska and was later appointed Director (Independent) of First National Bank of Omaha and a member of the Audit Committee in 2006. He was involved in many community activities, including the creation of a competitive swimming program for inner city youth. He also served as an assistant swim coach at University of Nebraska at Omaha. The family will receive friends Friday, March 11th, from 5pm to 7pm at Dundee Presbyterian Church, 5312 Underwood. FUNERAL SERVICES will be Saturday, March 12th at 2pm at Dundee Presbyterian Church. Memorials are suggested to Benson High School Athletics Swim Program.
