Irene E. Kampe

KAMPE-Irene E., age 72 years, of Elkhorn, NE went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, January 13, 2008 after fighting a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on October 28, 1935 in Omaha, NE, and left behind many friends and family who loved her dearly. Irene graduated from Benson High School in 1954, She worked at Mutual of Omaha and then spent 19 years working for the Sisters of Mercy as their bookkeeper. Before retiring, Irene worked for St. Roberts Parish doing payroll and bookkeeping. Irene has entered into rest joining the loved ones who have gone before her, including her parents, Joseph and Caroline Jerabek, her sister Verona Jerabek, her brother Robert Jerabek, her nephew David Harrison, and her previous husband Jim Bricher. Surviving Irene is her husband of 21 years, Hilbert Kampe of Elkhorn, NE and her three step-sons, Bruce Kampe of Omaha, NE; Pat Kampe of Lincoln, NE; and David Kampe of Wahoo, NE. Also surviving Irene is her sister Dorothy Harrison of Tabor, IA; 3 nieces: Debra Johnson of Boone, IA, Jane Harmon of Springfield, MO, Mary Harrison of Omaha, NE and 3 nephews: Robert Harrison of Beatrice, NE, David Jerakek of Omaha, NE, and Greg Jerabek also of Omaha, NE. Irene has also left behind a total of 19 great nieces and six great nephews. Although Irene was never blessed with children of her own, she adored the children who came into her life and took them under her wing as if they were her own. Irene was best known for the love she freely gave to others, and for her love for life and animals. Irene was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and loved ones, and she loved spending time outdoors with her horses and pets. Irene will be missed by all who knew her, and she will leave a huge void in the hearts of many. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. at Heafey Heafey Hoffmann Dworak Cutler Funeral Chapel at 7805 W. Center Rd. Omaha, NE. Funeral services for Irene Kampe will be held at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Elkhorn, NE. Irene’s earthly resting site will be at Calvary Cemetery, 7710 W. Center Rd Omaha, NE. Although we grieve the loss of Irene, we rejoice that her pain has ended, and that she has found her eternal resting place with her Lord and Savior. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16
