James Warren Dee

DEE, James Warren “Jimmy Dee,” Oct 15, 1937 – Mar 21, 2009, of Omaha. Passed away at home with family and friends by his side, after a short battle with Cancer. He was born to William and Marguerite (Dwyer) Dee in Salem, MA. Joined the Army National Guard and the Army National Guard of Maine, from 1953 – 1956. Joined USAF in 1956 – 1967. Married Rita Vielleux and together they had 6 children. Joined the Omaha Fire Dept in 1967, and retired in 1993. Preceded in death by parents; infant daughter, Jamie Marie; wife Rita, June 9, 2007. Survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Bryon Meador, Omaha, Sandra and Richard Frost, Council Bluffs, IA, Jennifer and Scott Slachetka; sons James Dee Jr., and Joseph Dee; 9 grandchildren; 2, great-grandchildren; and close friend Carol. Jimmy loved the Omaha Fire Dept. and spent the majority of his retirement years at the Union Hall, cooking for Helmet Club events and fundraisers. JD loved to be outdoors, especially near water and enjoyed riding his 911 Firefighter edition Harley to Sturgis and Poker runs representing the OFD Brotherhood. The plates on his pick up truck proudly read “Ret. E21.” His kind Irish spirit will be burned forever in the hearts that knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be held starting at 4pm on Friday, April 3, 2009, followed by Jim’s Celebration of Life all at the Firefighter’s Union Hall 60th and Grover St. Jim and Rita’s ashes will be laid to rest along side their daughter, at Offutt AFB Cemetery, with military honors.
