JOHN D. JACKIE WOHLERS, age 70, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at the Memorial Community Hospital in Blair, Nebraska. Jackie was born February 19, 1939 in LaGrange Township, Iowa to John J. and Lorain (Christians) Wohlers. He attended school in Beebeetown and graduated from the Beebeetown High School. Jackie served in the Army for two years, eighteen months in Germany. Jackie was married to JoAnn Shannon, October 8, 1961 in Honey Creek, Iowa. He worked for Jack and Jerry Bertelson for twenty-five years and other area farmers. Jackie was a member of the First Lutheran Church, and a member of the Snyder Imrie Legion in Modale. He loved spending time with his family, playing baseball in high school and on town teams, riding horses and attending bull riding events. Survivors include his wife: JoAnn of Missouri Valley, Iowa; children: Randy Wohlers and wife Carrie of Mondamin, Iowa; Robin Holcombe and husband Kevin of Earlham, Iowa; John Jay Wohlers and wife Becky of Missouri Valley, Iowa; grandchildren: Lyndsie Wohlers, Ashley Holcombe, Isaac Wohlers and wife Josie, Emily Holcombe, John C. Wohlers, Skylyr Wohlers; brother: Roger Wohlers and wife Mary of Omaha, Nebraska; mother-in-law: Georgianna Shannon of Missouri Valley, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family. The family would like to invite everyone to lunch and a time of fellowship at the Rand Community Center in Missouri Valley following the committal service.
