BITZES, John G., PhD, Dec 9, 1926 Oct 8, 2010. Died peacefully at the age of 83 with his family at his side, after a 17-year battle with Parkinsons disease. He is survived by his sons, Mark (Georgiana) and James (Dianne); four grandchildren: Jack, Katya, Zoe and Ian; brother Nick; sister Aphrodite Petrihos (Nick); sister-in-law Connie; many friends and extended family. Trisagion (Prayer) Service Thursday, 7:30pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Friday, 10:30am, St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 602 Park Ave. Interment, Hillcrest Memorial Park with military rites by Benson VFW Post 2503. VISITATION from 3pm Thursday, with family receiving friends 5pm-7:30pm at the West Center Chapel. So sorry for your loss and asking forgiveness for the delay in this offering. Dr. Bitzes was one of my teacher’s in HS at Omaha Bryan. Just recently, the memory of Dr. Bitzes came to the forefront of my thoughts to the extent I was moved to “follow up.” Dr. Bitzes was kind to me and showed me more grace than I deserved.
