JOHNSON, Perry Marvel

Perry Marvel Johnson Apr 24, 1923 – Jun 7, 2016 Served with combat engineers during WWII in the South Pacific, from Australia to the Philippines and numerous islands between them. As an independent businessman, he operated South Side Auto Repair for more than 35 years. He was an active second-generation member of Dietz Memorial United Methodist church for more than 80 years. Preceded in death by wife of 70 years, Zelma A Johnson. Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Perry Charles Johnson and Mary “Cissie” Rapay; also survived by thousands of satisfied customers and many church friends. He will be remembered for his willing volunteerism, innovative “make do” ability, sense of humor, and broad smile. The family will receive friends Sunday, June 26th, from 3pm to 5pm at the Bel Air Chapel, 12100 W. Center Rd. VISITATION and coffee hour with the family on Monday, June 27th from 12noon to 1pm at Dietz Memorial United Methodist Church, 1423 S. 10th St., followed by SERVICES at 1pm at the church. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park with military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials to The General Fund of Dietz Memorial UMC.

    So sorry to hear of my favorite Uncle Perry’s passing, but glad for the reassurance that Christ followers will be reunited with him someday in heaven. He is also survived by his sister Donna (Johnson) Christensen Reeves of New Hartford, NY.
