Msgr. Francis E. Kubart Dec 22, 1923 – Oct 30, 2016 Msgr. Francis E. Kubart was born on December 22, 1923 in Atkinson, Nebraska and died on October 30, 2016 at St. John Vianney Residence in Omaha. Preceded in death by his parents, Theodore Q. Kubart and Effie Pacha Kubart, and by his sisters, Helen Coufal and Josephine Kramer. Survived by his sister, Eva Thompson; nieces: Lorraine Coufal, Connie Myers, Maureen Proksel, and Marilyn Gokie; nephews, Joseph Coufal and Larry Thompson. Msgr. Kubart is also survived by his brother priests at St. John Vianney Residence, by his priests’ prayer group, and by the thousands of parishioners whom he served throughout the Archdiocese of Omaha during his 50 years of service to the communities of Atkinson, Norfolk, Deloit, Petersburg, Fordyce, Stuart, Monterey, Leigh, and Omaha. Msgr. Kubart was baptized on January 12, 1924 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Atkinson, Nebraska, where he attended grade school and high school and was active in the school band playing the trombone. Lifelong outdoorsman with close friends Clarence and Jeanette Wieberg of Dodge, Nebraska. Attended Creighton University in Omaha, St. Lawrence Seminary in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin, Conception Seminary in Conception, Missouri, and Kenrick Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri. Msgr. Kubart was ordained a priest at St. Cecilia Cathedral on April 25, 1949 and retired on June 17, 1999 as pastor of St. Mary Parish in Leigh, Nebraska. Made a Prelate of Honor with title of Monsignor by Saint Pope John Paul II on September 6, 2001. VISITATION Wednesday, November 2nd, 5pm to 7pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the Bel Air Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Thursday, November 3rd, 9am, St. Cecilia Cathedral. Additional services in Atkinson, Nebraska, including a ROSARY at 7pm Thursday, Nov. 3rd at Seger Funeral Home, and MASS at 10:30am Friday, Nov. 4th at St. Joseph Catholic Church followed by interment in St Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church in Atkinson or the Columban Fathers of Bellevue, Nebraska.
