Lorraine D. Ruther

RUTHER-Lorraine D., age 79 years, Omaha, passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 20, 2008. Lorraine retired in 1994 after working many years for the National Park Service. She was also an expert cook and homemaker, the latter of which is fast becoming a lost art. She could’ve given Heloise a few hints! Preceded in death by parents, Philip and Agnes Schwee Miller; husband, John J. Ruther; son, Thomas A. Ruther. Sadly, she never fully recovered from her beloved husband’s death over a year ago, or that of her first-born son in 1968. Surviving children are four daughters: Jean Bohle, Jeri Bushon (Timothy), Julie Ruther, and Jenifer Carmichael (Matthew); one son, John P. Ruther (Colleen). Also mourning her passing are her eight loving grandchildren: Colene and Jay Bushon, Jeannette and Jolene Ruther, Jennifer Bohle, and Kelly, Maggie and Casey Carmichael. All her siblings survive her: Dolores McKenzie, Virginia Savatovic, Rita Stodolka (Joseph), Philip Miller (Dorothy), and Betty Welch, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. We’ll miss you, L.D.! But now you’re with Papa again… A celebration of Lorraine’s life will begin with VISITATION Wednesday, April 23, 2008, 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the West Center Chapel, with ROSARY RECITATION at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass Thursday, April 24, 2008, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Church. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, next to her son.
