Margaret Ann (Loftus) Diggins

Margaret Ann (Loftus) Diggins, age 95, of Magnolia, Iowa passed away Monday, April 6, 2015 at her home. Margaret was born in Omaha, Nebraska on November 6, 1919 to Dominic and Catherine (Hughes) Loftus. She attended St. Mary’s grade school and South High School. On November 13, 1939, Marge was united in marriage to James Diggins. She and Jim lived on the family farm outside of Magnolia, Iowa for the remainder of their lives. This union was blessed by ten children, Jean, Maureen, Terry, Jim, Bill, Pat, Kathy, Mary Ann, Mike and Brian. Marge was also mom to Katie, Olivia, Kaleb, Jonny, Zach and Deirdre and a second mom to Sean, Shane and Erin. Marge was a woman of strong faith and a member of the St. Bridgets and St. Anne’s Parishes for the past 75 years. In addition to being an avid Lo-Ma Panthers and Notre Dame Football fan, she enjoyed cooking, canning and baking, especially pies. With her siblings, kids and grandkids, she loved a good game of pitch. Her most special gift, however, was in loving and nurturing children. Survivors include her daughters: Maureen Hutcheson Patricia Diggins; Kathleen Diggins-Kane; Mary Ann Zephier; sons: James Diggins; William Diggins; Michael Diggins; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and special friends, Connie Malone and Rex Rhoten. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, infant daughter Jean, sons, Brian and Terry, grandchildren, Adam and Maggie. A Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Thursday with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Logan, Iowa. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to St. Anne’s Catholic Church.
