Margaret Mindrup

Margaret Mindrup age 93, of Clive, Iowa passed away on March 1, 2015 at Mercy West Hospital during surgery resulting from a broken hip. Margaret was born Margaret Wright to parents Charles and Effie Wright in Bayard, Nebraska on July 11, 1921. Her family also included an older sister Arlene and a younger brother Charles. She graduated from high school at Platte Center, Nebraska in 1939. Margaret married Harold D. Mindrup on November 17, 1939 at Shell Creek Baptist Church parsonage near Columbus, Nebraska. That began Margaret’s life as a farm wife, as Harold was employed at a local grain and cattle feeding farm. They later began their own operation on a rented farm in Harrison County and several years later purchased the farm they retired from just Northwest of Logan. After her children entered high school Margaret began to work off the farm and enjoyed several years of employment at the Harrison County Treasurer’s Office where she retired in 1985. She and Harold were active members of the Logan Christian Church where they both served as teachers and volunteered in many different ways, with Margaret helping prepare many, many funeral lunches. Her favorite pastimes involved her flowers, shopping and traveling. She and Harold were able to take a number of trips, often with close friends, and after Harold’s death in 1990 Margaret continued her travels, taking a number of bus trips with friends as long as she was able to. She never tired of a good shopping trip and that continued right up to the end. Margaret was preceded in death by: her husband Harold Mindrup, her sister Arlene and brother Charles. She is survived by her children: Larry and Linda Mindrup and Janet and Jim Joslin, five grandchildren, Michael and Diane Mindrup, Jill and Steve Wright, Doug Mindrup, Jodie and Greg Hoffman and Jordan and Emily Joslin. In addition there are 12 great grandchildren, Ellen, Emily, Hannah and Garrett Mindrup, Andrew and Annie Wright, Katelyn, Lily and John Mindrup, Makaila Hoffman, Owen and Ava Joslin and. She was the happiest when surrounded by those grandkids. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church immediately following the service.
