Mary Patricia (Rice) Tetrick

TETRICK, Mary Patricia (Rice), “Pat,” Apr 13, 1937 – Jan 6, 2012. She is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law: Scott and Susan, Mike and Theresa, Randy and Veronica, Tom and Jill, Paul and Pam; her four sisters and brothers-in-law, Roberta and John Nyberg, Gerry and Keith McMillan, Jeannene and Roger Mason, Jeannette and Doug Johnson; 14 grandchildren; 14 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noel and Ruth Rice, and husband of 38 years, Houghston “Skip” Tetrick. Pat and her husband both graduated from Omaha Central High School, and were united in marriage on April 21, 1956 at Hanscom Park United Methodist Church in Omaha, their marriage on earth lasting 38 years until Skip’s passing in 1994. Pat held several jobs over the course of her life in the Omaha, and later Millard, areas when the couple moved in 1960 to 168th and “Q” Street (at that time outside Omaha) with their eldest three sons. They raised their five boys on this farm, both being very active in the rapidly growing Millard area, Skip serving on the Millard Board of Education for 15 years. Pat had countless volunteer endeavors to her credit, including work for her church singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School at Faith-Westwood United Methodist Church, Cub Scout den mother, and homeroom mother in Millard classrooms. In all her relationships with the many people she knew, she was willing to listen and help without expecting anything in return. Her life was marked by her love for others and her generosity until Parkinson’s disease made her unable to serve others any longer. She is loved and will be fondly remembered by many friends and family. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Wednesday, 11am, West Center Chapel. Interment, Evergreen Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to Auburn Good Samaritan Society in Auburn, NE.
