Ruth Lahree (Kenning) Nowaczyk Dec 5, 1923 – May 20, 2016 Ruth Lahree (Kenning) Nowaczyk, longtime resident of Omaha, passed away on May 20, 2016 at the age of 92 at Blue Valley Nursing Home in Hebron, Nebraska. Ruth was born on December 5, 1923, to Emiel and Josie (Cole) Kenning at Steel City, Nebraska. Ruth attended Rocky Hollow School District #3 for her first eight years of schooling. She completed high school in Fairbury, Nebraska graduating on May 29, 1941 with 62 boys and 61 girls. Western Union hired Ruth in Omaha, and there she met Johnny Nowaczyk who worked for the Martin Bomber Plant. Ruth and Johnny were married on July 27, 1944. Johnny passed away on May 8, 1985. Ruth was always a happy, busy person and enjoyed life. She belonged to the Eagles Marching Teams of Omaha, traveling with them to many out-of-town cities. Bowling and gambling were two of Ruths favorite pastimes. Ruth spent her life in Omaha until the last five years, when she moved to the Blue Valley Lutheran Care Home in Hebron to be closer to relatives. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Nowaczyk; parents, Emiel and Josie Kenning; brother, Lorence Kenning; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Ralph Bert; brother-in-law, Tad Enyeart. She is survived by sister, Helen Enyeart of Minnesota; sister-in-law, Ramona Kenning; many nieces, nephews, and friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 25th, from 5pm to 7pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm, all at the Mortuary, 5108 F St. in Omaha. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be Thursday, May 26th at 10:30am in Hebron, Nebraska at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with VISITATION beginning at 9:30am at the church. Graveside Service Thursday, 3pm, at St. John Cemetery in Bellevue, NE. Memorials may be directed to the family.
