Opal Darlene Baker

Opal Darlene Baker, age 88, of Beebeetown, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Westmont Care Center in Logan, Iowa. Opal graduated from the Beebeetown High School. She was married to Bernard A. Baker, June 18, 1941 in Nebraska. Opal was a homemaker and worked as a secretary and a cook. Bernard passed away July 29, 1967. Opal remained on the farm until she went to live at the Westmont Care Center. Opal enjoyed raising chickens, gardening, canning, playing bingo and visiting with her family and friends. Opal was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bernard, sons Bernard LaVerne, Gene, Dale and Gary, grandsons, Kevin Bernard Nelson, Scottie Vorthmann, sisters, Freda Wohlers and Lucille Rath, brothers, Willie, Arnold and Clarence Wohlers, son-in-laws, Ronald Vorthmann and Clifford Potter. Survivors include her daughters: Rosie Vorthmann of Honey Creek, Iowa; Shirley Potter of Shelby, Iowa; Becky Guarino and husband Sam of Beebeetown, Iowa; Shelly Willard of Logan, Iowa; son: Gail Baker of Missouri Valley, Iowa; twenty seven grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Susan Baker of Logan, Iowa; brother-in-law: Leonard Rath of Logan, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church following the committal service.
