Paul Ross Todd

TODD, Paul R. Apr 2, 1929 – May 10, 2010 Paul Ross Todd, 81, was born in Trimble, Missouri, April 2, 1929 to Marion and Mary Dickerson Todd. He passed away in Omaha on May 10, 2010. A devoted husband for 58 years, he is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Todd. A beloved father, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Todd. He is survived by sons: James Todd (Stephanie) and Ronald Todd (Angela) of Austin, TX, Paul Kevin Todd (Olivia) of Phoenix, AZ, Kenneth Todd (Alicia) of Gunnison, CO, Alan Todd (Beecher) of Longview, TX, Brian Todd (Michelle) of Rochester, MN; a daughter, Anne Todd of Omaha; brother, Donald Todd (Marilynn) of Murfreesboro, TN; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Paul, a violinist, earned his undergraduate degree from Northwestern University and was awarded a Masters in Music from the University of Texas at Austin. He served his country in the Navy, stationed as a court reporter at Pearl Harbor. He retired from the University of Nebraska at Omaha as Professor Emeritus of music. A respected educator and admired performer, Paul was concertmaster for the Honolulu and Austin symphonies, and associate concertmaster for the Omaha, Oklahoma City and Albuquerque symphonies. One of his fondest memories was performing with his brother Don on Kansas City’s WHB radio’s “Kansas City Kiddies” in the early 1940s. He was an active member of the Cornhusker Cosmopolitan Club, the Local Musicians Union, the American representative of the World Youth Orchestra Conference, member and choral director at Saint Wenceslaus Catholic Church. He was an avid fly fisherman and a big fan of Northwestern football, Royals baseball, and Kansas Jayhawks basketball. Above all, Paul loved and cherished his family and friends, and he will be missed by all. FUNERAL MASS Saturday, May 15, 10:30am, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cornhusker Cosmopolitan Club, 11712 N. 190 Circle, Benningn, NE 68007.
