Richard Danielson

DANIELSON, Richard “Dick,” Jun 2, 1933 – Jan 16, 2011. Born in Omaha to Glen and Doris Danielson, Dick graduated from the University of Neb. at Omaha with a degree in Business and Engineering and a commission in the USAF. The day after graduation he married Jacqueline Young, and soon they moved to Little Rock, AR, where Dick served as a Special Investigations Officer in the Air Force. When his military service was fulfilled, Dick and Jackie lived 10 years in Fremont, NE, where Dick worked as an industrial engineer at Hormel Company. In 1967, with 2 young daughters, Debra and Diane, the family moved to Red Oak, IA, where Dick joined Union Carbide’s “Eveready” Battery Division. By 1984 the family had lived in Vermont and Switzerland, during which time Debbie and Diane married and began their own families. Other work assignments had Dick and Jackie in Maryville, MO, and in the suburbs of Cleveland, OH. From there Dick traveled to countries in South America, to Canada, and to the Czech Republic, consulting in management for battery production. Following a final few more years back in Red Oak, Dick retired after 29 years and 4 months with Eveready. Dick and Jackie returned to Omaha to live near their daughters, son-in-law and grandchildren. Spending time in Sarasota, FL, became a wonderful time to enjoy Dick’s sister, Dorothy, and her daughters, Nancy and Susan and their families. Golf was a favorite pastime wherever Dick was. He met people easily and was interested in their lives. He was “ever ready” to help or to serve. He loved life here among us. As we celebrate his graduation into another realm, we thank God for lending Dick to us. Amen. Dick is survived by his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Danielson; daughters: Debra Cleland of Ames, NE, Diane Thomas and husband Jeffrey of Omaha; grandchildren: Jamie (Cleland) Lowry, Chris Lowry, both of Omaha, Elizabeth (Thomas) Ackerman, Patrick Ackerman, both of Elkhorn, NE, Holly Thomas, Aaron Cleland Anderson, both of Omaha; sister, Dorothy Sawrie of Sarasota, FL; nieces, Susan Drost and Nancy Mundwiler, both of Florida and their families.
