RITA ANN CHRISTENSEN, age 67, of Logan, Iowa passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at her home. Rita was born November 9, 1942 in Persia, Iowa to Louie and Ruth (Spracklin) Ditzler. Rita graduated from the Persia High School. She was married to Gerald Christensen May 15, 1961 in Burlington, Washinton. Rita and Gerald owned and operated the Harmony Inn in Persia for many years. They founded the 191 Club in Portsmouth with Gene Purcell as the builder, Rita and Gerald owned and operated that for many years. Rita was currently employed with Westmont Care Center as a Dietary Aid. Rita enjoyed cooking, collecting bells and loved ducks. Survivors include her husband: Gerald Christiansen of Logan, Iowa; sons: Michael Jeffery Christensen and June of Harlan, Iowa; Scott Allen Christensen of Magnolia, Iowa; sister: Marge Carrigan and husband Roger of Persia, Iowa; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Rita was preceded in death by her parents, grandson David Allen Christensen and sister Ruthie. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa. A Prayer Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Elm Crest Care Center in Harlan following the committal service.
