Robert Bruce Meeker

MEEKER, Robert Bruce, 86, passed away peacefully December 10, 2009, in Omaha, NE. Bob was born and lived in Wichita, KS for 80 years. He spent the last 6 years of his life in Omaha where he lost his courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. For 59 years he was a devoted husband to his loving wife, Joan, who passed away in April. Bob served in WWII in the Army Air Corps as a 2nd Lt. Navigator from 1943-45. Bob was an electrical contractor and owner of Meeker Electric for 40 years. He was an active member of the Cruisers class at Grace Presbyterian Church, Kiwanis Club, Red Cross volunteer, enjoyed square dancing, golf, traveling and loved caring for his faithful dog, Sandi. Family and friends will always remember Bob for being a kind and gentle man, and for his all-around decency, honesty, sense of humor and friendship. Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, and his parents, Florence and Don Meeker. He is survived by his son, Roger and Terri Meeker of Kapoho, Hawaii; daughter, Jolene and Bob Adams of Omaha; grandchildren: Tyler Brown, Trevor Brown, Jennifer Shukert, Jason Adams and Krystal Kapuras; and great-grandchildren. A MEMORIAL SERVICE with military honors will be held in Omaha at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association c/o the funeral home.
