Robert Kenneth Johnston

JOHNSTON, Robert Kenneth Sep 2, 1947 – Nov 11, 2014 Born in Canova, South Dakota to Corlyn and Lucile Johnston. Died in Omaha. He attended St. Agatha grade school and high school in Howard, South Dakota. After high school he joined the National Guard and retired as a First Sergeant after 31 years of service. He and Karen Haas were married on August 3, 1968. He was employed at Hoffman Brothers, and then drove semi-trucks for Barney Mette, Standard Chemical, and, most recently, for Wynne Transportation. He enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family and many friends, especially the golfing crew. He loved watching Nebraska Cornhusker and Chicago Bears football games, and also enjoyed bowling, golfing, playing cards, and his ’56 Chevy. He was preceded in death by son, Todd and parents, Corlyn and Lucile. He is survived by wife, Karen; sons, Rob (Kristen) and Travis; grandchildren: Spencer (Lacey), Samuel, Jack, Peter, Annie, Chad (Krystle), and Taylor; great-grandchildren: Ryley, Kira, Bryson, and Camden; brothers, Don (Joyce) and Rich (Marsha); many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, November 14th from 6pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. PRAYER SERVICE Sunday, Novmber 16th at 5pm at St. Agatha Catholic Church in Howard, South Dakota and MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Monday, Nov. 17th at 10:30am at St. Agatha Catholic Church.
