Shirley A. Sokolik

SOKOLIK, Shirley A. Dec 4, 1934 – Jan 6, 2013 Born on December 4, 1934 to Martin and Barbara Novy; graduated from South High in 1952; married in 1959 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church at 14th and Pine. She was very proud of her Czech culture and had been a member of the Czech Culture Club and Sokol South Omaha. While raising her children, she worked at the former Vinton School as a lunchroom aide, then later retired from the Douglas County Assessor’s Office. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory A. Sokolik; parents, Martin and Barbara Novy; brothers: Clifford Novy, Martin Novy, Floyd Novy and Donald Novy. Survived by son, Greg Sokolik; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jim Weisbecker; grandchildren: Greg Sokolik III, Anne Weisbecker, and Clare Weisbecker; sister, Dorothy Dixon and husband Norman; numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Wednesday, January 9, 5pm to 7pm with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Thursday, January 10, 9:30am, West Center Chapel to Mary Our Queen Catholic Church for MASS at 10am. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Catholic Charities or Sacred Heart School.
