Stephen J. Dlouhy

DLOUHY-Stephen J., age 57 years, Council Bluffs, IA. Known to his golfing buddies as “Big Daddy,” and “Dad” to his pooches, Tucker and Chloe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Dlouhy; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Millie Grasso; brother-in-law, Ron Grasso. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Cheryl Dlouhy; many special family members and friends. A Vietnam Veteran with the 101st Airborne, his most memorable awards were two Bronze Stars and one Silver Star. He was a retired Omaha firefighter and, until its closing in 1998, owner of McMullen Golf Co., ranked one of the top three Club-fitters in the nation at the 1992 national PGA Show by “Golf Shop Operators,” a Golf Digest Publication. An avid golfer with an amazing swing, he practiced and played to qualify for the PGA Champions Tour. He always looked for perfection in everything he did, and he succeeded with every venture he took on. His home away from home was Dodge Riverside Golf Club. His passions were loving his wife with all his heart, and playing with his pooches. His joy was driving his “wife’s” new Viper, and his wish was to return to Florida for the winters. His latest venture, “The Clubhouse” in his back yard, will stay a dream. He was dedicated to his wife, pooches and friends. He was proud, honest, caring, courageous, and patriotic with a mischievous sense of humor. Honorable, loyal, sensitive, hard-working, fun-loving and generous were just some of his traits. He will be sadly missed, but the lives he has touched will forever be changed because of him. The story of his life would be a bestseller. Bring on the sunshine and let’s play golf! Come celebrate his life Saturday, January 13, 2007 at the Dodge Riverside Grille, 2 Harrahs Boulevard in Council Bluffs, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Memorials to your favorite charity.
