Vera Elizabeth (Grossner) Hughes, age 93, of Logan Iowa passed away on Monday, October 6, 2014 at her home in Logan, Iowa. Vera was born September 26, 1921 to John F. and Jennie (Bonner) Grossner in Harrison County, Iowa. Vera graduated from Beebetown High School in 1940. She married Clyde Hughes on August 5, 1941. Vera was a lifetime Logan resident. Over the years Vera was involved with the SOS Club, Rebeccas, HDO Club and was a Cub Scout Leader, and the Ladies Aide at the Logan Christian Church. Vera enjoyed watching sports, especially Creighton Bluejays Basketball. Around the home, Vera could be found caring for her roses or sitting on her front porch. Vera was proceded in death by: her parents, husband Clyde, brothers: John and Virgil Grossver, sisters: Irma Palmer, Lois Owens and Doris Dungan, son in law: Kenneth Collins. Vera is survived by her daughter; Myrna Collins and son; Ron Hughes both of Logan, Iowa; sisters; Donna Foje of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Lorene Earwood of Logan, Iowa; grandchildren; Lane (Barb) Collins of Fairfield??; Lance (Jannette) Collins of Portage, Michigan; Jennifer (Dale) Hansen of Fremont, Nebraska, Cory Collins of Omaha, Nebraska, Brandon Hughes and Greg Hughes of Cincinnati, Ohio, fourteen great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. A Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Thursday with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Logan Memorial Chapel in Logan, Iowa.
