Janice Rae Wanninger Feb 17, 1938 – Mar 3, 2015 Janice Rae Wanninger, age 77, of Manning, Iowa, died on Monday, March 3, 2015 at the home of her daughter, Jean Wanninger Gourley, in Omaha, Nebraska. The daughter of Elvin and Edna Singsank Laurinat, Janice was born on February 17, 1938 at her home on Elm Street in Manning, Iowa. She grew up in Manning with the exception of two years shen she lived in Spirit Lake, Iowa (1948 – 1949). Janice graduated from Manning High School in 1956. On September 7, 1957 Janice was united in marriage with Leo Louise Wanninger at the Sacred Heart Church in Manning by Father Robert Kirschbova. Janice and Leo had five children: Martin (1958), Jean (1962), Joan (1964), Michael (1966), and Janet (1967). In June of 1958 she and Leo moved to the family farm four miles south of Templeton, where they farmed for thirty-three years before retiring. Janice did the accounting services for her parents’ business, Laurinat’s Plumbing and Heating, from January of 1956 until her father passed away in July of 1975. Then she provided accounting services for her son Martin’s trucking business from November of 1982 to December of 1995. She worked in the accounting and administrative fields at various companies before retiring. Janice was a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Church and Sacred Heart Altar Society in Manning. While living in Omaha she attended St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She was a member of the Naomi and Ruth Chapter of Daughters of the King in Omaha. Janice loved to read and bake, and often went hunting and fishing with Leo. She was an avid NASCAR fan. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Janice was preceded in death by her husband Leo; her parents, Elvin and Edna Laurinat; and her sister, Judy Olson. She is survived by her two sons, Martin of Audubon, Iowa,and Michael of Pesotum, Illinois; three daughters: Jean Wanninger Gourley and husband Keith of Omaha, Joan Phillips and husband Dave of Golden, Colorado, and Janet Wanninger and friend Daniel Budd of Audubon, Iowa; eleven grandchildren: Katie Herring of Omaha, Paige McKern of Sioux City, Iowa, Megan McKern of Ames, Iowa, Adam Obrecht of Audubon, Iowa Elin and Natalie Phillips of Golden, Colorado, Joseph, John and Jake Wanninger of Pesotum, Illinois, Jason Gourley and wife Denise of Omaha, Josh Gourley and wife Tara of Omaha; four great- grandchildren: Barrett, Bristle, Jayden and Keiris Gourley, all of Omaha; brother, Allen Laurinat and his wife Mary of Odessa, Missouri; brother-in-law, Harry Olson of Manilla, Iowa; sister-in-law, Evelyn Irwin of Florida; many nieces, nephew, and friends, both locally and in Omaha. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, March 9th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Manning, Iowa, with Reverend Father John Gerald as celebrant. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Manning. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to the Wanninger Family, 1004 Heron Avenue, Manning, Iowa 51455. Funds will be donated to various Catholic churches.
