WESTIN, Richard S. “Dick”

Richard S. “Dick” Westin Jun 16, 1932 – Mar 20, 2015 Founder of Westin Foods; husband, father, brother and grandfather. Dick was an original. He will be remembered as one of Omaha’s star high school athletes—setting state records in football and track, he was often compared to Nile Kinneck. After receiving a full scholarship to UNL, a knee injury forced him off the gridiron and headlong into business where he excelled. He leaves a long legacy to so many he mentored and encouraged along the way. Dick was inducted into several business and sports Halls of Fame. His business success allowed him to follow his passions, including giving generously to his community and philanthropic projects. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Edith Westin. He is survived by his beloved wife, Diane Westin; daughter, Kristin Behmer (Chris) of Batavia, Illinois; son, Richard Westin (Pam) of Omaha; daughters, Robin Westin-Schmit of Deephaven, Minnesota and Karin Hogan (Robert) of Omaha; 13 grandchildren: Kirklund Behmer, Cortney Behmer, Taylor Behmer, Wren Westin, William Westin, Reed Westin, Eric Schmit (Morgan), Brian Schmit, Caitlin Schmit, Laurin Hicks (Thom), Tanner Hogan, Travis Hogan, and Lydia Hogan; siblings: Click Westin (Wilma), Margie McKee, and Sally Carlson, all of Omaha; a myriad of friends and business associates who will miss him dearly.
