WIESE, Calista A., “Pat”

Calista A. “Pat” Wiese Mar 10, 1920 – Jan 29, 2015 Calista was born in Fonda, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest H. and Maude C. (Thornton) Wiese. She graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1935 and Silver Lake High School in Ayrshire, Iowa in 1937. Early in the 1940s, the family moved to Emmetsburg, Iowa. Calista worked at the Kermore Drug Store where she acquired the name “Pat.” In 1942 she began working in the Palo Alto State Bank which later became a Brenton Bank and then a Wells Fargo Bank. She held several positions, including Assistant Vice President of accounting and bookkeeping. She belonged to the National Association of Bank Women. After 43 years, she retired in 1985. For the last thirteen years she lived with her sister Jeanne at the New Cassel Retirement Center in Omaha. Calista’s major concern was keeping in touch with her sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, dining out, visiting Lake Okoboji, and keeping up with the news. She is survived by sisters, Jeanne, and Carolyn Anderson (James) of Ottumwa, Iowa; brothers, David of Lincoln, NE and Max of Des Moines, IA; 26 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Sanders (Wayne) and Ernita; brothers: John, James, and Ernest “Tom” Wiese. VISITATION Monday, February 2nd from 9am to 11am at the West Center Chapel, followed by GRAVESIDE SERVICE at 11am at Calvary Cemetery. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Chapel at the New Cassel Retirement Center.
