Brenda Jean Magers

Brenda Jean Magers

April 18, 1948 – September 16, 2024

Brenda Jean Magers, loving and devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother “Grammy” of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on September 16, 2024. Brenda was born on April 18, 1948, in Louisville, Kentucky, where she spent much of her life and always considered home.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bernadine Akridge; father, Robert Akridge. She will be forever missed by her surviving loved ones, husband, Richard Magers; daughter, Megan (Michael) Davidson; the joys of her life, her two grandsons, Mason and Waylon; and many other family and friends.

Brenda spent a large portion of her career in Management at South Central Bell (later AT &T), followed by serving as an Administrative Assistant at several churches. She was a member at churches in Louisville and Omaha over the years, and that was an incredibly important part of her life. She had a strong faith that guided her every step of the way, which gives a great deal of comfort to the people that loved her the most.

Her family meant the world to her. She cherished every moment she got to spend with Richard, as they would laugh and create special memories together. Brenda always knew she wanted to be a mom, and when Megan came along, the two became inseparable and would remain incredibly close over the years. And when her grandsons were born, she found her new favorite title, “Grammy.” From playing board games with Mason, to cuddling on the couch with Waylon, she loved those boys with her whole heart.

She will be remembered as kind, funny, witty, loving, giving, and caring. She truly left a very memorable, sweet impression on everyone that she met. She would do everything she could to love and support everyone around her. The void that is felt in her absence is profound and unmatched. She was loved deeply and will be missed dearly.

A Celebration of Life will be held a First Baptist Church of Middletown in Louisville, Kentucky on November 11, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. with a reception following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association in her honor.

Brenda and I were closer than sisters for many years. She had a kind heart and a generous spirit…and her joy when both Megan, then Richard, entered her life was immeasurable. A cherished part of my life will always reflect her presence. Thank you for sustaining her.

Condolences to Brenda’s family. My memories of Brenda are filled with working with her and playing softball. She was our pitcher and had the biggest glove on the planet!! Linda was our shortstop and Paula on first base. They were a tough trio!! May she rest in peace until we meet in Heaven.

I was shocked seeing Brend’s obit come on my phone just this morning. I’m so sorry, Richard, Megan, and your entire family. Brenda was my assistant in the Finance Office at Walnut Stree Baptist Church, Louisville, Kentucky back during the early to mid 90s. She was a devoted Christian lady who loved the Lord and her family dearly. May God’s love and mercy be all sufficient for your every need, Richard and Megan. God bless you!

I’m so sorry Richard and Megan. We had many fun crazy times playing softball on our “losing but fun” team!
