Helen Ria Pocop

Age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Josie Harper Hospice House. Helen was born in Omaha, NE, on November 3, 1928 to Emil and Helen Nechvatal. She worked at Fairbanks Morse Co., and at local radio station KFAB. In 1951 she married Tobias “Toby” Pocop and they celebrated 57 years of marriage before his death in 2008. Helen enjoyed many sports activities. She was an accomplished bowler and golfer and a dedicated Cornhusker Football Fan. In retirement, she and Toby traveled by car around the country. They would stop at local golf courses and would play golf each day, enjoying the local sites and other activities.

She is survived by her niece Cheri Lynn Funkhouser of Santa Maria, CA, niece Annette Craddock and nephew Tom Nocita, both of Overland Park, KS and by many nieces and nephews on her husband’s side of the family. Visitation Friday, April 27, 2018 from 6 pm to 8 pm, West Center Chapel. Services Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 10:30 am, West Center Chapel. Interment: Evergreen Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Paralyzed Veterans of America or to the Nebraska Humane Society.
