Brett William Downs, 48, of Omaha, NE passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 of natural causes at his home.

Brett was born April 18, 1972 in Waterloo, IA to Monroe and Nancy (Allen) Downs. He graduated from West High School in Waterloo, IA. After graduation, Brett enlisted in the United States Air Force and served for 4 years.  He was involved in Operation Desert Storm.

After serving his country he received his Bachelor’s Degree of Management Information Systems at the University of Northern Iowa, and was employed by CSG International of Omaha, NE as a Lead Systems Analyst.

He married the love of his life Jenni (Georg) Downs on August 16, 1997. The couple was blessed with two children, Luke and Lexi.

Brett was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Packers fan. He enjoyed traveling and loved spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks with his family.

Brett was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Elkhorn, NE.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jenni; son, Luke; daughter, Lexi; father, Monroe Downs of Laurie, MO; father-in-law, John Georg; mother-in-law, Terri Georg of Holstein, IA; siblings: Dirk (Janeece) Downs of Denver, IA, Angie (Pat) Kupka of Waterloo, IA, Colleen (Brock) Weliver of Cedar Falls, IA; sibling-in-laws, Jon (Lonnie) Georg of Midway, TX and Justin (Val) Georg of Ida Grove, IA; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy; grandparents, William and Ada Downs, Harry and Agatha Allen.

Family receives friends, Friday, December 18, 2020, 12:00 noon. Services with Military rites, FRI, 1:00PM., West Center Chapel.

Memorials are suggested to JDRF, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and MDA, Muscular Dystrophy Association.

    My deepest condolences to Brett’s family. I had the privilege of working with and getting to know Brett at Hayneedle. He was wonderful to know and a huge part of the Hayneedle family. My heart goes out to his family and pray for comfort and strength.
