Dayton Jackson Wenz
July 4, 2004 – August 6, 2022
Born on the Fourth of July, Dayton Jackson Wenz arrived in this world ready to celebrate with his family. He lived 18 years, one month and two days until he was taken out of our care August 6, 2022. Dayton was a graduate of Central High School Class of 2022. Growing up, he participated in many sports including soccer, cross country running, and swimming. He even played trumpet in jr high band. He previously worked as a lifeguard and taught swim lessons at the YMCA. More recently, he had been employed at Jason’s Deli and utilized his culinary skills that he learned in is favorite foods class. Dayton was an energetic kid, full of passion, determined and loved his family and friends. His witty banter, sprinkled with sarcasm kept everyone on their toes; many people describe him as the funniest person they know. In his short life he experienced the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. No matter what, everyone always knew right where they stand with Dayton, as he was very open in showing his emotions and wore his heart on his sleeve while often addressing in-depth topics that most were too skeptical to entertain or question. He was our protector, source of constant entertainment, annoyance, humor, and endless love.
He is survived by his ever loving mother and biggest advocate, Sarah, his sister and original bff, Laynie of Omaha, grandparents, Bob and Barb Wenz of North Platte, uncle Seth (Alicia) Wenz of Lincoln and many extended family as well as several special friends. He is preceded in death by uncle Jason Wenz of Lincoln.
VISITATION: Saturday, August 13, 2022, 12:00 noon – 2:00 p.m., followed by MEMORIAL SERVICE, 2:00 p.m., all at West Center Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the family.

Wenz Family – I am so very sorry for your loss of such a wonderful kid. I’m grateful for the 2 years I got to spend with Dayton in-class. He is so funny and charming and has a big heart. Over the years, he demonstrated an increasing desire to learn and grow. I can’t imagine the pain and sorrow you feel. My hope is that you can find some peace in memories of your time together.
