Patricia Louise Bernadette (Corcoran) Duda

Patricia Louise (Corcoran) Duda

March 4, 1930 ~ November 14, 2022

Patricia Louise Corcoran Duda left this world on Monday morning at age 92. Mourning her passing are her seven children—including Kateri Iwersen (Dr. Larry), Kimberly Duda DiLorenzo (John, deceased), Beverly Higgins (Mike), Jenny Adams (Mike), Richard Duda, Beth Groshens (Danny) and Nancy Daly (Michael). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her dear sister Kathleen Corcoran Curnyn.

We find great peace knowing that Pat has been reunited with the love of her life, Dick Duda, who she lost after 51 years of marriage.

Pat was born and raised in Omaha, and was the fourth child in a family of nine. Pat was first nicknamed “Boots” by her Dad, due to her habit of sneaking into the garage on her way to school to change her shoes to her knee-high lace-up boots. Always the tomboy, she held her own playing ball with her brothers in the vacant lot across the street from their childhood home. Eventually, she caught the eye of a catcher from Central High School, who later became her husband.

Together they raised their family on 58th and Underwood, where there was always laughter. Pat’s faith was of the utmost importance to her, and her love of God has always been her guiding light. The Duda family attended Saint Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church and school.

Pat’s fun-loving spirit blossomed in her later years. While she grew up ice skating at Hanscom Park, she also became involved in the tennis community, and later picked up golf. She’d try anything once, except for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

In her absence, we will always picture our Mom basking in the sun drinking an iced tea, with no ice, and petting every dog in sight (as well as feeding them under the table.)  During her years at Aksarben Village, she was known for keeping lone-diners company and brightening everyone’s days with her quick wit. Boots, how will we ever get along without you?

FAMILY RECEIVES FRIENDS: Wednesday, November 16, 2022, 12:30 – 1:30PM,. followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 1:30PM, all at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 2110 S 32nd Ave. Omaha, Nebraska. INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery.

Sending so much love. It was an honor to know Boots and her quick wit. What a blessing she had to have such wonderful children watch after her all these years. May her days now be full of sunshine, ice tea and that sweet husband.

I loved having your mom as my neighbor! She was so welcoming when I arrived, having lost my husband just a few years after she lost hers. She was a beautiful soul and she raised some beautiful children. It was a pleasure and a blessing to get to know her and to meet all of you!
