James E. Curnyn

Age 88

James Curnyn passed away peacefully at his family home on December 23rd, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Kathy; children: Bob Curnyn (Debbie), Susan Thonen (Terry), Anne Curnyn (Adrian Martin), John Curnyn (Brandi), and Tom Curnyn (Mary); 11 grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Gertrude Curnyn; and brothers: Bill, Paul, Bob, and Joe.

James was born in Spaulding, Nebraska. The family then moved to Denison, Iowa. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the Army, where he served for 2 years. After his military service, he pursued a business degree and graduated from Mankato State College. He then moved to Omaha, NE, where he met his wife of 60 years, Kathy Corcoran, and they had 5 children.

James was a loving, compassionate, crazy Irish man who was loved and will be missed by many.

VISITATION: Monday, January 2nd , 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Tuesday, January 3rd, at 10am at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 1920 N. 102nd St.  Interment with Military Honors: Tuesday, January 3rd at Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Nebraska Humane Society.
