ABBOTT, Madeleine Lucille

Abbott, Madeleine Lucille Sep 14, 1923 – Nov 8, 2015 Scottsdale, AZ. Born to James and Louise (Schneider) Walsh; passed away in Glendale, AZ. A 1940 graduate of South High in Omaha, NE, she married high school sweetheart Edward J. Abbott, the love of her life, in 1944. Preceded in death by spouses, Edward Abbott and Leon “Bud” Gaskill; sisters: Mary Alice, Patricia, and Mildred. Survived by six children: Larry (Vondra), Judy (AJay), Kathy (Jim), Betsy (John), Tom, and Bill; two sisters, Katherine and Frances; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews from both sides of the Walsh and Abbott families. In addition to being the heart and soul of her large and extended family, she was a most intelligent, sophisticated, and elegant lady, always well dressed, well groomed, and with impeccable social skills. Her faith and trust in God were unwavering, in good times and in bad. She lived the Golden Rule and liked everyone she met—and everyone in turn liked her. She was an excellent bridge player, and she was well-versed and sometimes opinionated on current events and family activities to the very end of her life. It was truly “A Life Well Lived”—rich and full. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Saturday, December 5th at 10am at St. Gerald’s Lakeview Chapel, 7859 Lakeview St. in Ralston, NE. Interment, Calvary Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials are suggested in the name of Madeleine L. Abbott to the charity of your choice.
